This Ol' Boy

Hey ol' man.

Lazy bones. Notice the red wrap on his front leg. Romeo had some mysterious leg swelling for about a week. Glad to report it is mysteriously gone!!

Little Miss Nosy

This view...

... never gets old.

Kitty Spooning

Ain't that precious.

Friday Evenings

Sometimes, on Friday evenings, Texas and I ride the ponies, while drinking a beer, while letting our dogs chase after each other.

I Spy

I spy something with black spots...

Young Inquisitive Mind

Oh Jaders... I guess she is getting older.

Side note: what a milestone I have reached with this girl. From lounging her for an hour before even getting on her to sipping on a beer while taking her for a leisurely ride on the ranch.

Because...

Enough said. ;)

Blossoms

It's that time of year again already...

Almond trees, among other fruit and nut trees, are-a-blooming. :)

This means my allergies are-a-coming. :(

A Cat Being A Cat

Sometimes I have to remind myself that Goose is a cat.

I think she enjoys those reminders too. We picked this fun thing for her today while out in the big city.

Earthquake Drill

Just in case...

Got Some

Got some rain the last few days. WOO!!

Texas and I watched the clouds roll away as we sat on the front porch. Love me some good stormy weather.

Perfect

Perfect start to a wonderful Valentine's Day.

Rains-A-Coming

A little sunshine before the sprinkles came.

Hopefully, we get some more moisture soon.

Porch Sittin'

Last night, Texas and I did some porch sittin'. We drink a beer, watch the neighbors drive by, and hang out with our pups.

Stoney found his new favorite spot to lay on the porch.

Warm Greetings

Howdy.

Protective

I think Stoney is a little protective over this bone...

Second Time

Barebackin' Jaderoo for the second time. Why did we wait so long to do this?

Oh wait, I am having flashbacks. Now, I remember.

P.S. Sorry for the crotch shot, ha.

How?

How can people not live in the country?

This is what I live for.

Awkward

Awkward much?

Spring in February

Yes, I am wearing a tank top in February.

Monster Pony

The Monster Pony got a new saddle pad.

She's so friggin' long!

Workin' in the Mornin'

Stoney Bee looks like he got plenty of coffee this morning as we headed out to the auction yard.

My Bed

Goose making herself comfortable.

"My bed."

Hay Obsession

Someone has a problem. I think hay will be the death of Dosie.

A Disturbed Slumber

Moments before I disturbed their slumber... Muahaha. Ha.

Cat Calf Faceoff Round 1

When Twinkie #1 got out yesterday, we got her cornered near the beef mamas while we were finishing up. This is what happens when you have a very curious, crazy cat around the premises....

Peppy was literally having a faceoff with this girl. Note that her mini me, Dos, is not far behind.

Round 1 Results:

Kitty - 1
Calf - 0

Stay tuned.

Hardly Working

Yesterday afternoon I had the wonderful job of opening and closing gates for Manuel. This job consisted of a lot of waiting. Sitting. Shooing cows out of the way. Waiting. Playing with my hair. Opening a gate. Sitting. Shooing. Taking pictures of myself in the manure water.

Twinkie

One of our beef mama's had twins last week. One female, one male. This is the little girl... and she is little!!

My dog is seriously bigger than her, and he's only fifty pounds. We worked the beef cows yesterday, and we had to bring them all up to the hospital pen to run them through the chutes to deworm and vaccinate. This little girl got a wild hair up her in hide and decided she wanted to try life out as a dairy cow. She ran under the pipe fencing near the chutes and ended up a couple pens down with a holstein parade following her.... We had to round her up later.

Oh beef cows, never a dull moment.

Swimsuit Model

I gave my love a bath this weekend when it was a cool 70 degrees outside.

Ahh, she's like a swimsuit model. I think a horse is so pretty when they are still wet after a bath. She just glistens!!!

Girls, Girls, Girls

The Braided Girls

Jade and I having a moment. First time on her bareback. I was proud. I've been a little hesitant to throw my soon to be wed body on her sans saddle since the little buckaroo incident we had back in May. Tonight I just got a wild hair up in my britches, and I surprised Texas by coming around the trailer on her back.

And look at that. We are all matchy matchy with our braided hair. I just didn't get the "stick your tongue out" memo.

Two Loves, One First

Yesterday my two loves worked together for a first - Texas rode Jade for the first time.

This is a big deal people. I love this pony so much. I have never loved a horse as much as I love this girl. She's my passion, and I see such a great future with her. Considering the first time I hopped on her at home, and she bucked me off within two seconds, I have been a touch nervous putting people on her. My friend Julia rode her in December during her visit, but she's riding lots of colts before. This was the first time for Texas getting on a colt.

I think they both did pretty great. :)

Lots of love and good things going on over here!!

"The Middle"

Today I was very inspired while listening to a CD I got my Mom for her birthday yesterday. Here are the song lyrics to Lauren Alaina's song, "The Middle".

"The Middle"

I get this feeling every year, the first days of winter
Pull out that box of souvenirs, to read your old letters
In that stack of memories, found a note you left for me
It almost feels like you're still here
I hear your voice in every word
You told me to remember

Take each day and make it last
Cause you turn around and the future is the past
Here and now is all we have
The beginning and the end mean so little
What matters most is what's in the middle

Makes me smile when I look back to every summer
You forget your birthday and just laugh; say it's just a number
But Sunday afternoons, they meant so much to you
The simple things were golden, you found beauty in every moment

Take each day and make it last
Cause you turn around and the future is the past
Here and now is all we have
The beginning and the end mean so little
What matters most is what's in the middle

The day you're born is just a start
Your last breath is a question mark
The story of your life is in the in-between

Take each day and make it last
Cause you turn around and the future is the past
Here and now is all we have

Take each day and make it last
Cause you turn around and the future is the past
Here and now is all we have
The beginning and the end mean so little
What matters most is what's in the middle
What's in the middle

This really strikes a cord with my own personal life struggles right now. Hope this song helps lift y'all up a little bit, too.

Hay Kitty

Hay there kitty.

Backseat Driver

This is what I usually find in the backseat while on long truck drives transporting cows...

Ten Guesses

Ten guesses as to what the lump is under the comforter.

Hint: It's furry. Whiney. Slightly overweight.

Good Heel

Stoney is really smart. He loves to make his momma happy and do tricks and be obedient. I make him heel a lot when I'm working, so I know he's not eating silage and cat poop and lots of other nasty but delicious stuff.

But sometimes, he heels on his own when I least expect it.

Like when Texas and I are walking somewhere, holding hands, and very close to one another... so close that there's no way some little black spotted dog could fit his nose in between us.

I guess I'm mistaken. :) He's so happy.
