A Diamond Christmas Stocking

I come to y'all his fine morning from the can of my truck.

Tired.

Blinded by the sun.

Smushed next to presents, suitcases, puppies.

Oh, and my fiancé.

My Christmas stocking was a little extra stuffed this year. Texas really out did himself - in the way of jewelry that is. Let's just say the moment involved disbelief, 'shut up's,' shock, tears, and lots of happiness, hugs and kisses.

More details and pictures to come, by Texas and I are en route to spend a week with his family. Actually, our family! :)

Moo

I've Got Yer Back

I've got yer back.

And yer front.

It was a dewy morning.

Burger?

Soooo....

Who wants to come over for some burgers?

Happy

Happy Momma and Kitten.

Christmas Doggy

My moms dog is a Springer Spaniel, and he requires regular grooming. My mom will take him to the groomer about every 6 weeks to get his coat untangled, washed, and lookin' fresh and clean.

The best part? He always comes back with a bow on his collar. He always looks SOOOO cute - and he knows it too.

I was beyond excited to have him come back yesterday from the groomers to find his Christmas bow.

Keepin' It Classy In California

Last night, Texas and I had a super classy dinner.

You see, yesterday Texas and I got in our steer... as in, we now have an entire freezer the size of a regular fridgerator... FULL of beef.

Ribeyes, T-Bones, Hamburger, Cube Steak, Filet Mignons, Hamburger, Roasts, Hamburger, and OH did I mention hamburger?!

Anyways, we decided to have ourselves a really classy meat on the first night of having the steer in the freezer.

Filet mignons with homemade whiskey cream pepper sauce (thank you very much), gnocchi, veggies, and wine from up the hill in Murphys.

Best.

Dinner.

Ever.

Where Were You?

Where were you at 10 a.m. this morning?

Can you guess where I was?

Snow or Frost?

Rounded up the beef heifers from the corrals the other day...

There was a little bit of frost on the ground!

Tired Kitty

Being cute...

Is just soooo...

...TIRING!

Classic

Stoney's ears are not quite symmetrical..

I always joke "It's because I'm half Viszla and half Australian Shepard!"

5000

We've been doing lots of branding and retagging lately...

Up to number 5000! I think when I started helping Manuel brand calves this January when I moved back, we were at 3500. You do the math - I've branded a lot of girls!

Morning Routine

Their morning routine...

Waiting along the fence for someone to throw them hay...

Cold Nose

You think his nose is cold? Or is he just that bored?

Skinny

Someone got switched from Puppy food to Big Boy food a month ago, and he's taking some time to adjust... gettin' a little on the skinny side, so I just beefed up his food intake!

One Year

Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of the passing of my Dad.

It's hard to believe it's been one year since my world was completely changed. So much has happened in this last year, and it's hard not having my dad around to share things with. He was always the guy I could talk to when I just needed to joke around and get in a better mood.

My dad was a hard worker.

He loved his family.

  • He battled several health issues for the majority of his adulthood, but he was able to grab the bull by the horns near the end and take better care of himself.

He never, ever, lost his sense of humor...

He always tried his darndest to please his kids - and all of our friends.

It's still so surreal that my Dad is no longer with us. His guitar room still has his pictures displayed on the walls that he printed out, one by one. His office at the shop at work looks the way he left it on December 8th, 2010. The calendar has not moved in a year. The pictures, faded yes, but still secure on the walls. His clothes are still hung where he left them in his closets - except for a flannel shirt I've been sporting lately. It's a little big, but it makes me feel warm and cozy. Maybe because it's good material... or maybe because it's my dads.

I sure miss this guy, and I wish I had more time with him. I'm so thankful for our memories, our pictures, our (thousands) of home videos, and the everyday reminders that he still lives in my heart.

Love you Dad.

Dosie

Dos "Dosie" is growing up fast. He took a little unexpected roadtrip last week on Texas's work truck from my mom's house down to our house. He must have been playing in the truck as we climbed in to go home, clean up, and eat.  Got a call several hours later from my very concerned mom about Dosie... definitely didn't expect to find Mr. Adventurous a) at our house, a quarter mile down the road and... b) alive.

Glad he survived. Love this little fluff of cuteness!!

Steak

So, what does a cowboy eat after wrestling rambunctious beef calves all morning?

A Cowboy Steak Sandwich.

That Time of the Month

It's that time of the month...

Yup, you guessed it - Auction time!!!! Also known as Linguicia Breakfast Burrito Time at the auction yard down south. Mmmmm.

Double Take

Uhhh.

Whoa.

Another

Another sunset on el rancho.

Legit

Soooo, good news.

Ya know how I was studying for that driving test?

And taking all those driving lessons?

Welllllll, definitely passed my test a week and a half ago, and I'm officially a TRUCK DRIVERRRR!

Yup, I possess a Commericial Driver License, Class A, to be exact.

Pretty much, I'm pretty legit.

Too legit to quit.

Almost

Merry almost Christmas from Jaderoo.

Which One?

Yesterday, my Mom introduced me to the local Poinsetta nursery.

Which one should I get?

There were thousands to choose from....

Baked Goods

Thanks to Texas for adding some LBS on this girl this last week. He's been making some trips over to the local bakery in town and bringing me back some beautiful and tasty treats.

Thank You

Thank you Momma for helping bring a little Christmas cheer to my house on a not so cheerful day. :)
